Turks and Caicos watersport company Wake to Wake (http://www.waketowake.tc) regularly encounters Providenciales Island’s resident dolphins. However, subwinging has opened up a whole new way for their charter guests to get up close and personal with the dolphins.
Wake to Wake’s growing relationship with the Island’s resident dolphin, Jojo, allowed them to discover his love of play and his desire to interact. The subwing was an instant success with Jojo being very intrigued with people moving though the water in a similar motion to him by using the subwing.
The close up footage, which clearly shows this unique interaction between the dolphins and the swimmer, was captured using a GoPro camera attached to the subwing combined with drone footage.
Mark de Fraine, Wake to Wake Co-Owner comments, “Subwinging is becoming our guests’ favourite activity! The only way to describe it is ‘flying underwater’. Our guests are able to explore the under water world whilst being gently towed behind the boat. The bonus is when Jojo comes to play with us and we witness some truly incredible interactions.”
