Trapp Technology, trapptechnology.com, a Phoenix-based provider of IT, voice, and cloud hosting solutions, is pleased to announce its recent hire of Jim Mapes, who joins the Trapp Technology team as Chief Information Security Officer. Within this role, Mapes will continue to grow and build upon Trapp Technology’s existing security services suite, with an increased focus on providing cybersecurity assessments and security managed services for mid-market to enterprise-level businesses.
“I’ve been impressed with Trapp Technology’s success in the managed services market, and I firmly believe that the company is well-poised to lead the cybersecurity services mid-market with smart, business-driven solutions,” says Mapes. “Throughout my career, I have always approached cybersecurity as a business problem, unlike competitors who have traditionally viewed it as a technology concern. Company owners are very concerned about the impact a cyber breach can have on their bottom line, and this keen interest is driving a new conversation around how much security is really enough to eliminate as much risk as possible. Trapp will help these companies determine the answer to that question, and then get them to where they need to be.”
Mapes is a 25-year veteran of Information Technology, including 19 years in information security, and 14 years in senior leadership roles, of which eight were in a CISO titled position, and 10 years working with healthcare provider organizations. He has acquired a unique matrix of experience in cybersecurity thought leadership including designing information security programs and operations, advising executive teams and boards, as well as deep technical experience performing forensic investigations, intrusion testing, and incident response. Jim has worked extensively with healthcare companies and providers to secure patient medical records and meet HIPAA compliance.
With this addition, Trapp Technology strengthens their foothold in the information security industry. Through a proprietary four-part solution comprised of network monitoring, threat intelligence reconnaissance, vulnerability reduction, and risk mitigation, Mapes and his team will provide intelligent cybersecurity at an affordable price that is unparalleled in the marketplace.
“So many companies are concerned by cyber threats, but lack the threat detection and mitigation skills needed to protect their data and let key stakeholders sleep well at night,” says David Trapp, CEO of Trapp Technology. “Executives throw their hands up in the air because they think they’re going to get hit with an attack regardless of their efforts. Unfortunately, without the proper security resources in place, that is true. Our security suite, paired with Jim’s experience and vast amount of knowledge, will give executives and IT leaders the peace of mind they crave.”
