DETOX SERVICES TO COMBAT ADDICTION TO DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
Persons struggling with addiction need a variety of treatment options. Among them are detox services. To use one example, many people in the trades in Canada are struggling with addiction yet cannot qualify for a program until they “detox” from drugs and/or alcohol. For those suffering from addiction to opioids, for example, the Centre’s suboxone therapy can be a good fit. The short detox program helps them take the first step towards qualifying for an outpatient addiction program in their home community. Sunshine Coast Health Centre sets clients up with a physician in their community for continued suboxone prescription and provide overdose prevention and return-to-use education before they leave. That said, many lay people do not understand what detox is, nor the options available for detox. The new brochure aims to fill this gap, being available in PDF format in January 2018 and for pre-order today by qualified professionals.
Great education, in sum, is one component of a successful treatment strategy of addiction, whether to drugs, alcohol, or something else. It must be emphasized, however, that no literature can substitute for a one-on-one consultation with a qualified health professional. Those who may be suffering from addiction (or have a loved one who is) are urged to visit the Centre’s website and reach out for a private, confidential consultation on detox and addiction services.
