Margaret Peiffer Tells Adventures of Service Dog in Juvenile Tale

Margaret Peiffer returns to the publishing scene with the release of “Eager to Serve: Diary of a Service Dog’” (published by Trafford Publishing in October 2016), a juvenile fiction sharing the experiences of a golden retriever service dog and her partner.

In the book, Peiffer highlights the role of service dogs as the hands, legs, eyes or ears of a person with disabilities. Ana, a golden retriever, tells her experiences and day-to-day work with Amy, a blind elementary school student.

“Labrador retrievers and German shepherds are well suited for the work of a service dog. They have a love of people and great energy. They are strong, calm and patient. They do not chase other dogs, birds, squirrels or cats. They excel at all kinds of jobs when properly trained,” Peiffer says.

“Eager to Serve: Diary of a Service Dog” teaches children about respecting animals at work. It also reminds readers that: “Life does not have to end because you have a disability.”
