Kimberlee MacMullan Named Director of the Penn State SBDC

Kimberlee MacMullan has been named Director of the Penn State Small Business Development Center (SBDC). With more than 20 years in executive and financial roles, she brings significant experience in management, business and economic development.

“We welcome Ms. MacMullan to the statewide network of Pennsylvania SBDCs, and we look forward to having her as part of our leadership team,” said Pennsylvania SBDC State Director Christian Conroy. “SBDCs are strong supporters of business growth and development and we are proud to have an experienced professional such as Ms. MacMullan join our program,” he added.

Echoing his sentiments, Pam Driftmier, Interim Executive Director for Professional and Community Education at Penn State—where the SBDC resides—stated, “Kimberlee brings a wealth of experience and a passion for small business development that will support university initiatives in the areas of entrepreneurship, economic development and student engagement. As the Penn State SBDC celebrates 20 years assisting local business owners, her leadership will build upon the very solid foundation laid by past leaders and partners.”

In her new role, MacMullan will be responsible for delivering SBDC programs and services to small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in the center’s service area of Centre and Mifflin counties. In addition to providing direct business development support and managing a staff of six professionals, she will also serve as an advocate for entrepreneurship and supporting business expansion and retention in the region.

Before joining the Penn State SBDC, MacMullan was President/CEO of the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau in Hermosa Beach, California. At the chamber, she directed membership, event planning, promotional and operations programs serving over 300 members and Hermosa’s 20,000 residents. Prior to the chamber, she held numerous executive financial roles at DIRECTV, four major film studios in Los Angeles and Sony Music Entertainment in New York. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the Smeal College of Business at Penn State and an MBA from Lehigh University.
