“There was an immediate reaction to the property” — Melanie Hayes, TTR Sotheby’s International Realty

The former home of John McLaughlin, the renowned conservative political commentator, has found a buyer.
Best known for his television show, The McLaughlin Group — a syndicated half-hour weekly public affairs program that aired on CBS from 1982 through 2016 — the late McLaughlin’s home sold on Friday, December 1 for $2,625,000.
As originally reported in The Wall Street Journal, the residence — located at 3116 Woodland Drive NW — listed for $2.45 Million in July of 2017.
‘There was an immediate reaction to the property” says Melanie Hayes of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty. “ We received calls within hours of it going on the market and showed the house 2 to 3 times a day before receiving two very competitive offers.”
Built in 1955, the home occupies a wooded half-acre lot in Washington’s Massachusetts Avenue Heights neighborhood and includes four bedrooms, a library, and a large terrace addition built by McLaughlin in the 1980s.
The sale was brokered by Melanie Hayes and Michael Rankin of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty; the firm’s co-founder and managing partner, Jonathan Taylor, brought the buyer.
