Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Linda Marilyn’s new book is a story about the early American Wildland Firefighters.

In the aftermath of the great Blow Up fire of 1910, the newly formed department of Forest Service sent out trained firefighting crews to prevent the same horrific devastation from happening again. The primary objective of these firefighters was to build base camps and lookout towers across the vast wilderness of the Northwest. Their goal was to protect the magnificent and massive forests, sprawling prairies, and other pristine natural wonders of the lands from fire.

Many of the crews brought their families with them. Many learned unconventional firefighting tactics used by the local Native Americans. The natives called these government firefighters “Forest Keepers.” “The Forest Keepers” is a story about how some of these firefighters from two worlds and their children came together to protect the land of Idaho. It is the story of the strong community bonds these American Wildland Firefighters built.
