Our Division of Health Improvement at NMDOH is excited to be able to offer an alternative for new licensees in New Mexico to obtain their annual license more expeditiously.

Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) has been approved by the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH), Division of Health Improvement, as the first accreditation organization permitted to perform accreditation surveys in lieu of an initial state licensure survey for Home Health and Hospice facilities, in accordance with state law.

“This approval from the New Mexico Department of Health will help speed up the process for home health and hospice start-up organizations by allowing ACHC to conduct the licensure and accreditation surveys,” said Teresa Harbour, ACHC’s Program Director for Home Health, Hospice, and Private Duty programs. “We applaud the New Mexico Department of Health for working with us to provide these agencies with a solution that allows them to more quickly achieve licensure.”

The NMDOH has reviewed ACHC’s standards and survey process and confirmed that they meet the state’s licensure requirements. The NMDOH opted to partner with ACHC because of ACHC’s ability customize the survey collection tool to meet all applicable New Mexico rules and the Medicare CoPs.

“Our Division of Health Improvement at NMDOH is excited to be able to offer an alternative for new licensees in New Mexico to obtain their annual license more expeditiously,” said Division of Health Improvement Director Joseph Foxhood. “We welcome new providers to the state that add to our ability to provide health care options for our citizens, to obtain the care they need at all stages of life.”
